The United Nations' Sustainable Development Goal No. 2 aims to have zero hunger in the world by 2030

A healthy diet is critical to preventing malnutrition and other non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, stroke, and cancer.

Aside from access to nutritious food, food literacy is also an important component of healthy food habits. This involves having adequate knowledge of what ingredients go into food (including natural and artificial additives), and the awareness and ability to understand food labels.

The safety of food is also compromised by the unregulated use of pesticides in their production as well as the negative environmental consequences of mass food production.
