The conditions also include diseases that affect the senses and activities of eating, drinking, speaking, breathing, swallowing, and hearing.

ENT conditions are typically diagnosed, evaluated, and managed by specialists known as ENT surgeons. ENT surgery also encompasses the surgical management and reconstruction of cancers and benign tumours of the head and neck as well as plastic surgery of the face and neck (facial plastic surgery).
