Social Health
Social networks are critical social determinants of health. Social support from peers, families, colleagues, and communities provides both emotional, informational and practical support to people and makes them feel cared for and protected in uncertain environments.
Safe and supportive social networks can help promote the physical, mental and social health of young people by meeting their social needs and by being sources of important information about healthcare access and healthy lifestyles. These networks can be especially important for vulnerable populations like refugees who usually have to contend with uncertainty and high levels of stress. Healthy social networks through participating in civil society organizations, sports teams, student clubs and community efforts and even social media can help make young people feel more secure and less lonely. Young people can make a difference in their own lives as well as in the lives of others by joining positive social groups and providing mutual support.İstanbul Üniversitesi Cerrahpaşa Tıp Fakültesi Hastanesi (University Hospital)
